The sagging of the skin and the loss of volume are very bothersome for many people as they age. Due to a slowdown in the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin fibers, the skin loses its elasticity and volume begins to sag. This process begins between the ages of 25 and 30 and continues throughout life. Ageing is particularly evident on the face and neck in the form of wrinkles, blurred facial contours, sagging cheeks, drooping eyebrows and an ageing neck.

4 steps to your thread lifting procedure

Preparation

In a comprehensive consultation, we will discuss your expectations, answer all your questions, and also go through the recommendations for the post-procedure period with you. Furthermore it is important to know which treatments you have already undergone and which medications you are taking. Furthermore, no special preparation is required.

Performance and method of thread lifting

I perform the thread lift under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure in Vienna. We place great importance on your comfort and creating a pleasant atmosphere. The duration of the treatment is about one hour and you can go home immediately after the treatment.
Method:
After local anesthesia, special threads with transparent cones are anchored in the subcutaneous fatty tissue using a special needle. For each side of the face, 2-4 stitches are required, sometimes it may be useful to use several threads. The cones anchor the thread deep in the lax tissue and are tensioned as needed to reshape your face. After the thread is inserted, tissue compression and alignment of the threads are performed until the desired result is achieved. In the area where the thread runs, individual indentations may occur, which usually resolve within 3 to 7 days.

The application tightens the skin and repositions volume, especially in the cheek area. Eyebrows and mouth corners are lifted, and the chin area is tightened. This method can also be used to tighten the neck.

Aftercare and recovery

To achieve a natural and beautiful result, please consider the following instructions and advice:
• Cooling masks/cooling pads: Cool your face for 20 minutes every hour in the days after treatment. Wrap the mask/pad in a cloth to avoid freezing the skin.
• If necessary, take a painkiller (e.g.paracetamol) after the local anesthesia has worn off.
• Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours.
• Sleep on your back in a slightly elevated position for 3-5 nights.
• Avoid sleeping on your side during this time.
• Wash and dry your face gently for the first 5 days, avoiding friction or a massaging effect.
• Avoid strong and vigorous movements of the face and neck in the first two weeks.
• Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds for two weeks.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, such as running, in the first two weeks.
• Avoid going to sauna or hammam for at least three weeks.
• Avoid dental treatments for three weeks.
• Please refrain from facial and neck massages and aesthetic treatments for four weeks.

Result of a thread lift

The effect occurs immediately after the treatment. The threads inserted, including the cones, dissolve over a period of around 18 months, while the effect lasts longer. This is possible through the stimulation of collagen production.
The result is a fresh, rejuvenated face without a mask-like effect and without any scars. The procedure can be repeated as needed at any time.

Thread lift - what you should know!

How permanent is a thread lift?

The effect of thread lift occurs immediately after treatment, although a certain amount of overcorrection is desirable at the beginning.

The sutures placed dissolve over a period of around 18 months, whereby the effect of the thread lift usually lasts longer due to the stimulation of collagen production. Unfortunately, this does not stop the natural aging process and I therefore recommend repeating the thread lift if the effect wears off. Under certain circumstances, it may be advisable to perform a surgical facelift if sagging progresses.

How do I prepare for a thread lift?

Patient safety is my top priority!

The first step towards natural rejuvenation with a thread lift is a consultation. This serves to clarify the possibilities of realizable results, to inform you about all details of the treatment and is also required by law. If you decide to have the treatment we will arrange an appointment. Before the treatment, we will go through the details again to make sure that you want to proceed and that your wishes can be realized to the best possible extent.

What are the risks of a thread lift?

The risks of a thread lift are very low and your safety and well-being are my top priority!

But no procedure, whether surgical or non-invasive, is free of risks. To minimize these from the outset, I follow a proven method and exclusively use clinically tested and proven threads. The side effects listed below may occur, but subside quickly.

I would like to offer you a free and well-informed basis for decision-making and therefore I list them all.

The most common and typical side effects of thread lifiting:

Bruising may occur. Cooling masks/cooling pads: Cool your face for 20 minutes every hour in the days after treatment. You will receive a cooling mask/cooling pad to take home

There may be retractions in the area of the thread, which usually disappear after 3 to 7 days.

  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Hematomas

In the event of swelling, redness or hematomas, please cool the areas for 20 minutes every hour on the day of treatment and for 20 minutes each morning and evening for the next few days until they subside. Very rarely, the facial nerves may be weakened, usually only temporarily.

Is a thread lift painful?

Before the thread lift, a local anesthesia is applied, making the treatment almost painless.

How long do you have to refrain from sports, sauna, solarium and exertion after a thread lift?

Depending on the extent of the thread lift, please refrain from sports, sauna, hammam, solarium, and strenuous activities for 2-4 weeks.

Does a combination with other treatments make sense?

Combination therapies are possible and make sense in many cases. In the midface area, a combination with fillers is often effective. For the treatment of jowles, satisfactory results can be achieved with prior injection lipolysis.

This is a particularly interesting option for patients who do not want to undergo surgery.
