Reasons for liposuction

Many people are familiar with the phenomenon: although you exercise regularly and/or pay attention to your diet, there are areas of your body that are resistant to all efforts. Liposuction is an excellent method of getting rid of excess fat in problem areas.

Liposuction technique

The technique of liposuction was first described in the mid-1980s and has been developed and refined ever since. Today, mini and micro cannulas with a diameter of 2-4 millimeters are almost exclusively used for liposuction. As a result, liposuction has become an indispensable part of aesthetic surgery or cosmetic surgery. Liposuction is still considered the best surgical method for effectively combating fat deposits in problem areas.

Injection lipolysis

In addition to surgical liposuction, I offer treatment with injection lipolyis for small fat deposits. Which method is best for you can only be determined in a personal consultation.

Suitable body regions for liposuction

Upper body: abdomen (upper abdomen and lower abdomen), flanks (so-called "love handles"), back, upper arms, male chest

Buttocks & legs: Buttocks, saddle bags, thighs - inner thighs, knees, outer thighs, lower legs

Liposuction can shape body regions and transitions and reduce fat deposits. Unfortunately, liposuction is not suitable for weight reduction.

3 steps of liposuction

Anesthesia for liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that is performed under local anesthesia, twilight sleep or general anesthesia. In the vast majority of cases, the procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Method of liposuction

The fatty tissue is gently suctioned out through one or more small incisions using fine cannulas - mini or micro cannulas with a diameter of 2-4 mm. Depending on the quantity and expansion, vibratory liposuction is also used. The incisions usually do not need to be sutured at all and the bandage or compression garment will be applied while you are still in the operating theater.

Aftercare and result

After liposuction, the affected area can ache like a sore muscle or bruise. Conventional painkillers can provide relief. You must wear a compression garment for 6 weeks, preferably day and night. Give your body a rest in the first few days and take it easy! Avoid heavy physical activity. Bruising may occur, but this will subside and disappear within 14 days.

The final result shows after approx. 3-4 months.

Liposuction - What you should know!

How permanent is liposuction?

Wearing the compression garment for 6 weeks is essential for a good result. The healthier and more athletic your lifestyle is, the more permanent the result. Plenty of water, fruit and vegetables, sufficient exercise and a stable body weight are essential for lasting results.

Can liposuction be performed on an outpatient basis?

In almost all cases, liposuction can be performed on an outpatient basis.

You may go home after liposuction, but you should make sure that you are picked up. Be sure to have everything you need at home. Showering and washing your hair is possibel on the day of the operation. Office work can be resumed after 2-3 days, heavy and strenuous work after approx. 2 weeks.

If there are medical reasons or on special request, the procedure can be performed on an inpatient basis.

What are the risks of liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure and no surgery is entirely risk-free. Therfore it is important that only highly trained and qualified doctors perform the operation. Thanks to the use of modern methods and equipment, subsequent complications are correspondingly rare:

  • Bleeding
  • Hematomas
  • Wound infections
  • Irregularities and dimpling

When are sport, sun, solarium, swimming pool, hammam allowed?

  • Sport: After 3-4 weeks, light sporting activities are permitted with a slow increase.
  • Sun, solarium: Please avoid sun and solarium completely for 3 months. Afterwards, please use a suitable sunscreen with SPF 50+ consistently.
  • Sauna, hammam, thermal baths: Please refrain from sauna and hammam, thermal baths and all other activities that promote blood circulation for three months.
  • Swimming pool: Must be avoided for 6 weeks (risk of infection)

Does liposuction reduce cellulite?

Cellulite is a change in appearance that affects almost every woman to a lesser or greater extent. It can occur all over the body, with the most common areas being the buttocks and thighs. Liposuction significantly and permanently improves the appearance in many cases. We are also happy to offer you special pre- and post-treatment to support and stabilize the result.

How do I prepare for liposuction?

Before liposuction, we will discuss the following points together in order to positively influence success and avoid risks:

  • General state of health and any illnesses
  • The influence of nicotine on the wound healing process. If possible, avoid smoking for 3 weeks before and after surgery.
  • Avoid aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs, as these greatly impair blood clotting.
  • There should be no acute or severe chronic illnesses that contraindicate a surgical procedure.
  • Chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure or diabetes must be well controlled with medication.
  • If you are going home on the same day as the operation, arrange transportation home in advance and ensure that someone is with you for at least the first night after surgery.
  • Prepare everything you will need after the operation at home and place the most important things within easy reach so that you do not have to stretch and bend too much after the operation and can devote yourself to your recovery.
  • Regardless of the type of procedure, drinking enough water before and after the procedure is necessary for recovery.

What does liposuction cost?

The price of liposuction depends on the number of body regions to be treated and not on the amount of fat removed. The total price is therefore different for each procedure. The price for one region is € 2.890,- and includes all costs, incl. preliminary consultation and follow-up, surgery costs incl. personnel, equipment and consumables AND compression garments that are customized for you. Each additional region costs € 1,200.
