Upper arm lift: Reasons

Beautiful, firm upper arms – something many women long for. Many people refrain from wearing sleeveless clothing at a young age because they are ashamed of their upper arms.

The decision to have an upper arm lift requires careful consideration. In the following sections, you will learn the reasons for sagging upper arms and the benefits of an upper arm lift.

Why upper arms sag

Upper arms can sag when the connective tissue loses elasticity, whether due to genetic factors, ageing or weight loss. This sagging cannot always be corrected by exercise or diet, as excess skin and fatty tissue are a stubborn problem.

Why tighten upper arms

The upper arm lift offers an effective solution to tighten sagging upper arms and give them a more youthful contour. This procedure can increase self-confidence and significantly improve the aesthetic appearance, especially if sports and other measures do not achieve satisfactory results.

An upper arm lift is an option:

If you suffer from sagging upper arms and exercise and a healthy diet have failed.

You suffer from weak connective tissue and therefore flabby upper arms. (Bingo wings)

After losing weight or due to one or more pregnancies, your upper arms have sagged.

4 steps to an upper arm lift

Anesthesia for an upper arm lift

An upper arm lift is performed under sedation or general anesthesia. The medication will be adjusted to you personally for your well-being during the operation. Together with our anesthesiologist, we will discuss which form of anesthesia is best for you.

Method of upper arm lift

First, fatty tissue is suctioned from the affected area on the upper arm. The tissue area is then incised, the excess skin removed and the wound cosmetically closed. The scar is positioned so that it is as little visible as possible from the front and back and when the arms are raised. Nevertheless, the scars may be visible in certain cases. The use of modern surgical methods means that it is NOT necessary to use drains, which usually have to be painfully removed the next day. You can go home shortly after the operation. As we use self-dissolving sutures, no stich removal is necessary. A compression bandage is applied at the end of the operation.

Aftercare and recovery

At the end of the operation, we will give you a customized compression garment. To ensure optimal healing and a beautiful result, this compression vest must be worn for 6 weeks. Experience has shown that shower plasters do not adhere well to the armpit area and lead to increased inflammation, so we don't use them.

You may shower from the first day after the operation from the chest downwards, but you should limit yourself to "catlick" for the arms. Please do not raise your arms above 90 degrees for the first 3 - 4 weeks. From the first day after the operation you may carry out light household activities, but remember to take it easy.

For sleeping, place a cushion on the left and right so that the arms are slightly raised. Get a soft tennis ball and knead it a little several times a day. This promotes lymphatic drainage. Office work can be done after approx. 1 week, more strenuous work, depending on the activity, can be resumed after approx. 2-4 weeks.

The result of upper arm lift

The results of upper arm lift are not immediately visible and require a little patience, as each person has an individual healing process. After around 6 months you can be pleased with the result. Please note that scars are often reddened for a long time, especially after an upper arm lift. In some cases, it can take up to 2 years for the scars to fade.
