4 steps to breast augmentation with autologous fat

Anesthesia

Breast augmentation with autologous fat is always performed under general anesthesia or twilight sleep. Our anesthetist will guide you through the operation.

Method of breast augmentation with autologous fat

The fatty tissue required for breast augmentation is removed very gently using tiny incisions and the finest cannulas. The removed fat is then processed and inserted into the breast through a cannula. Using a closed system, ensures that the fat stays sterile at all times.

Aftercare and recovery

After the fat transfer to the breast, the breast is slightly taped. You can remove these tapes the day after the operation. Swelling and bruising of the breast may occur; these usually disappear within 14 days. No pressure should be exerted on the transplanted tissue, so I recommend NOT wearing a bra for the first 6 weeks or only using a very loose support bra.

After liposuction, the affected area can ache like a sore muscle or bruise. Conventional painkillers are usually completely sufficient. You must wear a compression garment day and night for 6 weeks. Give your body a rest in the first few days and take it easy! Avoid heavy physical activity. Bruising may occur, but this will subside and disappear within 14 days.

Results of breast augmentation with autologous fat

The final result of a breast augmentation with autologous fat is visible after approx. 3 months. About 50% -70% of the transferred fat tissue grows in permanently. The result will remain as long as your body weight is stable. If you gain weight, your breasts will also become larger, and if you lose weight, they will also become slightly smaller.

Breast augmentation with autologous fat - What you should know!

How permanent is breast augmentation with autologous fat?

You can assume that around 50% to 70% of the transferred autologous fat will grow in the new environment and be supplied with blood and nutrients. The rest is reabsorbed by the body. The fat that integrates and is supplied by the body remains permanently if your weight stays stable. Initial rest and a healthy lifestyle with plenty of fruit, vegetables and water also support the result positively. The growth rate is higher with repeated breast augmentation with autologous fat.

Is the operation performed on an outpatient basis?

In almost all cases, liposuction and breast augmentation by autologous fat grafting can be performed on an outpatient basis. Even if the procedure is performed under twilight sleep or anesthesia, you will wake up immediately after the procedure and can return home a short time later. Breast augmentation with autologous fat can also be performed on an inpatient basis if there are medical reasons for this or on special request.

What are the risks of breast augmentation with autologous fat?

Patient safety is my top priority! However, every surgical procedure involves certain risks.

These risks are generally considered to be low in the case of autologous fat treatment, as the body’s own tissue is involved. In addition to bruising and hematoma discoloration, wound infections may rarely occur or the fatty tissue may not be sufficiently absorbed.

What are the risks of liposuction?

Liposuction and fat transfer is a surgical procedure and no surgery is entirely risk-free. Complications can also occur during liposuction and it is therefore all the more important to only be treated by highly trained and qualified doctors. Thanks to the use of modern methods and equipment, subsequent complications are correspondingly rare:

  • Bleeding
  • Hematomas
  • Wound infections
  • Irregularities and dimpling

When are sport, sun, solarium, sauna, swimming pool and hammam possible again?

  • Sport: Unfortunately, you will have to avoid sport completely for 8 weeks, as this can reduce the rate of growth. After that, light sporting activities with a slow increase are permitted.
  • Sun, solarium: please do not sunbathe or use a solarium for 3 months, as this can lead to permanent skin discoloration. Afterwards, please use a suitable sunscreen with SPF 50+ consistently.
  • Sauna, hammam, thermal baths: please avoid saunas, hammams and thermal baths for 3 months as they stimulate blood circulation and can lead to pain.
  • Swimming pool: should be avoided for 3 weeks (risk of infection)

What cup size can I expect after a breast augmentation with autologous fat?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to operate on a specific cup size. Experience shows that an enlargement of up to approx. one cup size per session is realistic. If you wish to have even larger breasts, the procedure can be repeated. The aim is to achieve a harmonious overall appearance in which the breast blends well and harmoniously into your body image.

Does cellulite improve after liposuction?

Cellulite (orange peel skin) is a change in appearance that affects almost every woman to a lesser or greater extent. It can occur all over the body, with the most common areas being the buttocks and thighs. Liposuction often improves the appearance significantly and permanently. In addition, we recommend manual lymphatic drainage after liposuction to positively support and stabilize the result. This also reduces swelling and pain much faster.

How do I prepare for a breast augmentation with autologous fat?

Before a breast augmentation with autologous fat, we will discuss the following points together in order to positively influence the success in advance and to avoid risks:

  • Your general health and any existing illnesses
  • The influence of smoking on wound healing disorders. If possible, avoid smoking for 3 weeks before and after surgery.
  • Avoid aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs, as these greatly impair blood clotting.
  • Any presence of acute or severe chronic illnesses that contraindicate surgery.
  • Chronic diseases such as high blood pressure or diabetes: a very good medical adjustment is required.
  • Transport and care after the operation: organize your transport home in advance and ensure that someone is with you for at least the first night after the operation.
  • Prepare everything you will need after the operation at home and place the most important things within easy reach so that you do not have to stretch and bend too much after the operation and can devote yourself to your recovery.
  • Regardless of the type of procedure, drinking enough water before and after the procedure is necessary for recovery.
